Hey guys,
The message board gets WAY more people that stop by then the server it seems so just wondering how many of you actually plan on playing with us in the future?
I have been trying to get on at a regular time every Friday and the first few times we had up to 5 old members of SOB playing and I really enjoyed it. I have very little skill playing this game so if you ever wanted to wipe the floor with me well, I am at your disposal lol. I am open to playing other times just give me a heads up and if I can make it I will.
Please don't be bashful, all are welcome to come play with us.
Last night it was just me and MrQuePasa and it was fun but it would be amazing if you would consider joining us.

Very little skill...LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL My work schedule is jacked up--especially it seems on Friday nights (got home at 1 am this last one and I went right to bed after a 14 hr day). I totally want to play, but the times I show up, there's nobody there.  I'm playing with a M1 Mac mini as well--thanks for working on that, btw. I will say that the same issue that I've had with LG is still there which is gonna make it difficult for me to play. It's like a heartbeat of a stutter in the game for me. It's annoying as hell and screws with my ability to kill anything. I'm guessing you restored an old disk image with the server back and that may be the issue. Perhaps a rebuild might kill this issue for me. |

Hi Slappy...I too have a stutter as you say but luckily lunar is ....shall I say a little rusty..so it still makes for a fun game ,and as he gets his skills back....as if he ever lost them, I can only hope I learn to adjust to the stutter. As for your work I hope things get a little easer for you as 14 hr days are a long. Still I hope to catch you here soon as I/we miss your in game humour. Take it easy and stay safe....Mr Q

Hey Slappy are you available on Saturdays or Sundays? If so we should choose a time and play, I only chose Fridays as I usually work on the boat on the weekend but I can put aside a couple hours if your up for it. Do you have the stutter in the k3 server as well? There are a bunch of settings we use for LG which we don't use for K3, if K3 is better that would narrow it down. I can get a list ready and can mess with the timescale and see if that helps when we are in game, anyways there always was a little lag in both servers as the changes to make it low gravity make the game take more resources to run and thus can cause some problems. Parallels is 99 bucks but it works so far with K3 just not LG I still need to try a few stock servers to make sure it is not working on all stock servers not just LG I will test soon. It wasn't always like this. It was nice and smooth for the longest time. What makes it even more frustrating is that my ping is its usual speedy self at around ~20. I wonder if there's any way to fix it with a complete rebuild? It happens every two or three seconds. It's a really frustrating stutter. I can even see it visually on my meter. I've even tried it on my laptop and it's the same--I can run it on that for long as it heats up like a volcano. |

Here is my lag o meter (/cg_drawlagometer 1) on the m1 Mac mini with parallels on the K3 server, I see a tiny lag spike but nothing like you are describing, can you confirm if yours is larger then this video?

I was playing around with this for a while on the server, and I really wanted my FPS to be set at 250 due to 250 having the best for jump distance and height, but I was getting that stutter that you guys were talking about. Certain FPS that I switch to will have the "stutter" occur at different intervale. I personally found if I set my FPS to 144 (/com_maxfps 144) (same as my monitor refresh rate) it completely gets rid of the lag. I dont know if this is due to the rendering on my side somehow synchronizing with the server updates or not, but it got rid of any type of stutter. Hopefully this will help. If not, you can try setting it to your monitors resolution. I dont know if 144 happens to be a special number, or if it got rid of the stutter because I set it to my native refresh rate of my monitor. |

Sorry, I missed out on gaming these last 2 weeks, things came up and my wedding on the 1st of May! I'm keen to play one of these coming days, I usually can play Fridays but can check in Saturdays (Sundays = Monday here so I have work).

I do not notice any lag in game with parallels and windows 10 on my m1 Mac mini but might just be me.

Do you guys only play modded servers? Because I've just made a return to playing after taking a break of about a year and a half and it's been a nightmare finding servers that aren't running Cod4x. I'm pretty young to be playing this game to be fair but I started playing in middle school and it's been a big part of my life so it's sad for me to see how little players are playing anymore

Our server does not have COD4X and I agree with you hardly anyone plays this platform any more. probably because it takes an active admin to get rid of cheaters whereas the X version supposedly does all that. I never figured it out as most of the documentation is unavailable about COD4X but the mod lives on so only people who figured it out in the beginning of it use it or know someone who helped them do it. If someone would teach me I would add it but alas the old COD4 days seem to have evaporated. Best regards, Lunarking |

Also it's $20 for a game I already have. Maybe I can buy a USB DVD external and see if that works. Any other thoughts? What else are you all playing?

Honestly the server is not being used, I have not played it for almost a year pretty much the same for everyone else life gets in the way. I live aboard a power boat and work on it all the time and am production manager at my job and I also go all over the USA for service calls to repair our machinery so again not much time. I think a select few of us just have nostalgia from our time together and that's why we came back here. There is a FB group that we rarely use if your on there I can add you. Currently I only watch people play my favorite game on YouTube, much cheaper and less time involved to get my fix. I just declined my steam deck that I reserved as I would not use it currently. Hope life's treating you well brother!!! |

I play cod 4 every day ....Sob dude and fluffy bunny sob a girl i think still play....so even if there are not so many people playing on sob some of us are still on . hope to see some of you soon on cod so in the meantime all be good and take care Mr Q.

Lunar, that is too funny. I came back for the same nostalgia. It's too bad but life does get in the way. I finally retired from tennis. My body just could not keep up and I started spending more money traveling and playing at tournaments than I was making. It's a business where, if you don't win, you don't get paid. It was good timing by a few years too because most of the money was playing in Europe and COVID shut that down real quick.
I have knee replacement surgery next week. Then I have shoulder replacement to schedule, my right knee replacement, and right ankle surgery. Sports is a tough way to make a living. I hope to be pain free by next summer and maybe start teaching.
